Dear Collectors,

It fills me with great joy that we have been awarded the contract to auction this extraordinary collection of Egyptian art. Such a significant and high-quality collection has never before come under the hammer in the German-speaking region. In accordance with the status of this private collection, its scientific study and cataloguing were carried out by expert Egyptologists.

It is an honour for us to present this collection to you in its own professionally curated catalogue. In accordance with the collector's wish, her name will not be revealed. The objects were gathered in the Rhineland over the course of more than four decades, from around 1980 to 2020. During this time, an initial interest in Egyptian art developed into a great passion for collecting in this fascinating field.

Despite the heavy professional demands of running a global company, the owner made time to buy from the most renowned art and auction houses. Through purchases from galleries and at auction the collection grew considerably over the years. What began as a personal collection gradually became an extensive private museum and remained so until the collector's death.

In accordance with the collector's wishes, this auction provides an opportunity for interested parties to expand, complement and enrich their own collections, or to begin a new collection with pieces of the highest quality. It was her great desire to give the objects a new home and to ensure the preservation of these exhibits.

In line with the collector's legacy, the proceeds will go to an existing foundation that promotes research, science and art, enabling it to continue to fulfil its mission and securing its future. In this way, private collecting and public interest are linked.
